What Are Hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins and swollen body tissues in the lower part of the rectum and anus. The disease occurs when extra pressure is exerted on the connective tissue in the rectum and anus. This pressure can be caused by straining during defecation, lifting heavy weights , and sitting for long hours.

1.    Eat A Lot Of Fiber

Consume foods rich in fiber such as oranges, broccoli, bran bread, artichokes, peas, lentils, beans, tigernuts, sorghum, millet, chia seeds, sesame seeds, apples, parsnip, long-grain brown rice, red lentils, and turnips.
Fiber will help to stimulate your gut so that you will not experience constipation. Furthermore, it will  help to soften your stools so that you can defecate easily without increasing pressure on the hemorrhoids.
The US Government recommends eating 14 grams of fiber (that’s about 2 medium potatoes,
one small oat bran muffin, and 1 medium pear)  per 1000 calories.

2.    Drink Green Tea Often

Green tea contains flavonoids, which are plant antioxidants. A review published in the US National Library of Medicine has revealed that flavonoids reduce itching and bleeding in people with hemorrhoids.
Flavonoids protect and strengthen the connective tissues of capillaries in the anus, thereby preventing itching and pain in your anal area. Additionally, they improve the flow of blood through the anal veins.

3.    Take Diosmin Supplements

This supplement  is manufactured from plant flavonols. A study carried out in Austria in 2004 showed that these supplements help to make the swelling shrink in size.

4.    Sit In Warm Water

Pour water into a bathtub, add a disinfectant or an anti-inflammatory substance such as chamomile or apple cider vinegar, and sit on the mixture for 30 minutes  daily. It will help to reduce the pain you are experiencing in your anus.

5.    Apply Myrtle Lotion To Your Anus Before Defecating

A review of clinical studies  published in the Journal of Integrative Studie, suggests that Myrtus communis essential oil (or myrtle essential oil) reduces anal pain and anal irritation. Furthermore, the oil reduce bleeding from burst hemorrhoids.

6.    Apply Aloe Vera Gel Twice A Day

Massage aloe vera gel onto your hemorrhoids in the morning after visiting the toilet and taking your bath. It’s very soothing. Additionally, it’s got anti-inflammatory properties and so will help to reduce pain and swelling.

7.    Apply Horse Chestnut Extract

According to a study published in Alternative Medicine Review, this herb contains an enzyme called aescin which helps to keep the walls of the veins of the rectum and anus healthy and strong. Furthermore, it helps to reduce inflammation in the anus.  

8.    Apply Butcher’s Broom Extract

10.                      Take Pycnogenol Orally, and Apply Pycnogenol Cream

A study carried out by D’Annunzio University in Italy, and published in the journal Phytotherapy Research in 2010, has revealed that taking 300 mg of Pcynogenol tablets daily, in addition to applying Pycnogenol cream, can help to reduce pain in patients with external  hemorrhoids.
The drug possesses anti-inflammatory properties. Furthermore, it helps to promote the free flow of blood in the veins and capillaries of the anus.

11.                      Stroll After  Sitting for Long Hours

Get up, take a stroll around your office, or walk to a co-worker and chat for a minute before you continue typing on your laptop. It will help to improve blood flow in your anus. Furthermore, it will reduce the pressure your sitting exerts on the hemorrhoids.

12.                      If You Have Internal Hemorrhoids, Go For A Ring Hemorrhoidectomy (or Rubber Band Ligation)

In this treatment, a protcoscope (a tube fitted with light) and a piles gun are used to fix special rubber bands or rings to the base of the hemorrhoids. The procedure takes less than 5 minutes and you can go home immediately after doing it.
The rubber rings cut the flow of blood to the hemorrhoids. Consequently, the hemorrhoids mass, starved of nutrients and oxygen, shrivel and wither gradually and pass out with the rubber rings in the stool after two or three days.
