You’ve wondered, right?
Wondered why this had to happen
now.
Wondered how you are going to
endure this COVID-19 disease, how your life is going to turn out.
Your whole world seems to be
collapsing around you.
You feel lonely. You feel sad. You
have so many worries.
One of the ways to deal with these
emotions is to read encouraging scriptures. God’s word is spirit and life. It
will comfort you, strengthen you, and help you to live a life of victory.
In this article, I want to share
encouraging Bible verses to give you hope and help you to deal with the fear,
depression, loneliness, anxiety and the other emotions you feel.
God Will Be Merciful To You
“The steadfast love of the LORD
never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
great is Thy faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22,23).
This Bible verse tells you God’s
love is not fickle like ours. The fact that you have contracted COVID-19 does
not mean He does not love you. Yes, you do not understand why the LORD God has
allowed this to happen, but continue to trust and believe in Him.
God is merciful and He will
continue to be merciful to you throughout this challenging time. Every day, He
will show you mercy and help you to endure the pain. Furthermore, He will touch
the hearts of people to give you the physical and emotional support you need.
The LORD Is With You
“The LORD of hosts is with us; the
GOD of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalms 46:7).
One of the things that make some Christians
lose their peace of mind when trouble strikes is the feeling that the LORD is
no longer with me. This Bible verse assures you that the LORD has not forsaken
you. He has not forgotten about you although you may feel that He is very far
away.
When you feel lonely, imagine that
the LORD is whispering to you, “I am still with you. I am still near. Do not
feel me with your feelings, but with your heart, through the eyes of faith.”
He is your refuge. So instead of
focusing on all the negative thoughts that are running through your head, seek mental solace in His word.
And very often, remind yourself that because He is your refuge, He will not
allow the COVID-19 disease to destroy you.
God’s Promise Gives Life
“This is my comfort in my
affliction that Thy promise gives me life” (Psalm 119:50).
I am sick myself and sometimes I
feel so down and wonder how I can go on living. However, when I consciously
recall God’s promises to mind, I experience peace in my heart. Hope floods my
heart and I feel a sense of inner renewal. God’s promises give me life again,
literally.
Let the LORD’s promises be your
comfort every day. Read and commit two or three of God’s comforting promises to
memory every day. When you feel discouraged, meditate on them and you will see and
feel the light at the end of the tunnel.
The LORD Will Sustain You
“The LORD protects him and keeps
him alive; he is called blessed in the land; Thou dost not give him up to the
will of his enemies. The LORD sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness Thou
healest all his infirmities” (Psalm 41:2,3).
Are you one of those Christians who
want to be in control all the time? Do you feel as though you are losing
control because of the COVID-19 disease?
One of the truths we learn as
Christians is faith in the LORD, the confidence to give up your sense of
control and let God be in control.
So believe that God is in control. The
GOD who created you and gave you life will continue to keep you alive. He holds
your hand and He will keep you.
Acknowledge The LORD
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and He
will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5,6).
Psychologists assert that every
human being reacts in one of two ways when trouble strikes—either the person
will feel despondent about the situation and pity himself, or he will choose to
fight on.
It is very easy to lose faith and
to get angry with the LORD when the unexpected happens. However, decide to
fight on in faith. Don’t trust your judgment too much or think that the LORD is
being wicked to you. Keep praying, keep living a holy and righteous life and He
will use what seems to be against you and cause it to work for you.
Jesus Empathizes With You
“For we have not a high priest who
is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has
been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near
to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in
time of need” (Hebrews 4:15,16).
Jesus left the comforts of heaven,
took on human form, and experienced what it feels like to be human. He
experienced pain just as you do. He experienced discouragement just as you get
discouraged sometimes. He experienced loneliness. He also got depressed
sometimes.
So He can empathize with you. He
knows what you are going through. He feels what you feel. And so approach Him
in prayer knowing His ears are always open to hear your petitions for deliverance
and He will give you strength to help you soldier on.
Jehovah-jireh, The LORD Our Provider, Will Provide forYou
“And my God will supply every need
of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
You’re scared of the aches and
pains, right?
You’re anxious about starting work
again, right? Or you’re scared of the future because you’ve lost your job,
right?
Don’t worry. Remind yourself often
that God is Jehovah-jireh, the great
provider who provides for over 7 billion people every day.
Furthermore, remind yourself often
of the fact that God provided more than 600,000 quails to feed 600,000
Israelites in the wilderness. He is able to do more than you could ever think.
He will provide more than you need.
